Authorities find 3 illegal immigrants in Niagara County

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — U.S. Border Patrol Agents say they arrested three illegal aliens who were previously deported from the country.

Deputies with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office say they came across Fredy Yobani Sam-Az, 29, Alfonzo Colop-Sam, 31, and Gabriel Humberto Colop-Sam, 33, during a Monday traffic stop in Niagara Falls. All are residents of Guatemala and were determined to illegally be in the U.S.

Previously, Alfonzo Colop-Sam had a previous DWI in Georgia. Authorities say he also claimed to have entered the country illegally in 2007.

Gabriel Colop-Som had previously been apprehended in Texas in 2006 and was removed from the U.S shortly after. Humberto was found in the same state in 2010 and faced a similar fate. He was taken out of the country in October of that year.

The three were detained without bond, pending an appearance before a federal magistrate.

“The U.S. Border Patrol assists law enforcement partners every day in securing our border,” said Niagara Falls Border Patrol Agent Josh Barrett. “The arrest of these three individuals highlights the cooperation between law enforcement agencies. I commend our agents for their hard work and commitment to service.”
