DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Dunkirk man is facing a number of drug and alcohol-related charges following an early morning arrest Wednesday.

Just after 1 a.m., Dunkirk Police officers approached an SUV on S. Gazelle St. after hearing a citizen’s report of suspicious activity in the area.

After the vehicle stopped, its driver, Donte Chambers, 22, got out of the vehicle and began walking away as officers approached the SUV.

Police said they saw Chambers drop several bags containing marijuana, crack cocaine and powder cocaine.

With help from additional officers, Chambers was detained and taken into custody.

While continuing their investigation, police say they found several open alcoholic drink containers and a 16-year-old girl inside the vehicle. The girl admitted to drinking alcohol that was provided by Chambers.

Chambers is being held without bail on various charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful marijuana possession, unlawfully dealing with a child and having an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle. The girl was ticketed for possessing alcohol while underage and was released to a parent.
