The Middleburgh Fire Department high-angle rescue team and the county Search and Rescue Team used ropes to go over the edge to reach the clearing, which had a steep 79 percent grade, Devlin said.

Rescuers brought the woman up the cliff, and she was taken by a six-wheeled Conesville Fire Department rescue vehicle to a landing zone where a helicopter was waiting.

The Middleburgh Ambulance First Responders, Scho-Wright Ambulance and Rural-Metro Ambulance, Schoharie County Sheriff’s Deputies, State Police and Schoharie Fire Department also participated in the rescue.
