Francis S. Guardino, 81, formerly of Sunset Ridge, Watertown, died November 11, 2017, at Friendly Home Retirement Community in Rochester, where he and his wife have lived since March 2016.

Mr. Guardino was born in Watertown on January 12, 1936, son of Samuel and Mary Cancilla Guardino. Mr. Guardino graduated from Watertown High School in 1954 and Syracuse University in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He married Estelle A. D’Agostino on June 21, 1958, at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Rochester. Mr. Guardino was in the US Army Reserve, discharged on September 30, 1964. He was Vice President, Finance Controller for Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1987. After retirement from Mercy he worked as a financial consultant, retiring in 1996. Mr. Guardino volunteered at the Precious Blood Monastery, assisting with their finances. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the American Legion Post 61, Watertown.

Surviving besides his wife, are his children, Samuel (Laurette Hasbrook), Chicago, IL, Mary Rose (Stephane) Vago, Pont-de-l’lsere, France, Monica and her partner Rona Huss, Rochester, NY, Peter (Jane Walter), Bloomington, IN, Rita (Mark) Rose, Little Falls, NY, Matthew and his partner Lisa Tenasco, Providence, RI, and ten grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Carmeline DeFranco of Watertown. A brother Joseph, a sister-in-law Dorothy Guardino, and a brother-in-law Manuel DeFranco pre-deceased him.

Calling hours will be 4 pm to 7 pm at D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, November 16th. A prayer service will be held at 9:15 am at the funeral home on Friday, November 17th, followed by a funeral mass at 10 am at Holy Family Church with Reverend Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
