Jeanne Duprey Sharpe
Jeanne Duprey Sharpe, age 89, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She resided at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home in Ogdensburg, NY. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Frary Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Ogdensburg, NY. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Foxwood Mausoleum immediately following the services.
She was survived by three daughters Nancy Amo and Lynn Murray, both of Ogdensburg, and Mary Jane Sharpe of Las Vegas; one son Robert Sharpe and his wife Shelley of Ogdensburg; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, George Sharpe who passed away in 2002; a son who was loved by many, David Sharpe who passed away in 1991; a grandson, James Amo Jr.; her parents, George and Helene Duprey; a brother, George Duprey Jr.; her only sister Marjorie Wright of United Helpers Nursing Home; and her best friend of many years, Evelyn Trimm.
Jeanne was born January 4, 1928 in Ogdensburg, to George and Helene Coleman Duprey. She married her high school sweetheart, George Sharpe in August 10, 1946 at Notre Dame Church with Monsignor A.D. Charbonneau officiating and were married for a total of 63 years. She attended St. Mary’s Academy and later Ogdensburg Free Academy, graduating in 1946. She loved to dance and was named Most Outstanding Dancer of her class.
Jeanne worked for many years at Grant’s Department Store, later retiring from the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center after 25 years of service as a food server supervisor. Everyone who worked under just loved her as a supervisor.
Jeanne and her daughter Nancy were avid bingo players and were at the Knights of Columbus every Monday night. She also loved the casinos; she and her husband went to Las Vegas twice a year for many years to stay with her daughter Mary Jane. There were many shopping trips with her daughters which involved dinners and lots of giggling. She enjoyed tales from her husband and son Rob’s many hunting adventures. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church.
