Liselle LaFrance, director of Historic Cherry Hill for 26 years, who helped rescue the 18th-century mansion from the brink of insolvency in 2013, is leaving her position on Dec. 1.
LaFrance accepted a new job as director of Historic Huguenot Street in New Paltz, a 10-acre National Historic Landmark District with seven historic houses and other buildings with three times the budget and staff as Cherry Hill. She made the announcement in a newsletter mailed last week to members.
Despite several key victories, LaFrance is departing before completion of the final phase of renovations to the bright yellow 1787 Georgian mansion atop a knoll in the city’s South End.
