James Leon Sequin
James Leon Seguin passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, December 30, 2017 at the Sun City Hospice House in Ruskin, FL.
Surviving James are two sons, Steven (Tami) Seguin of Riverview, FL and Eric (Molly) Seguin of Medford, NJ; a daughter Penny (John) Burt of Watertown, NY; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was born on April 10, 1936 in Ogdensburg, NY, a son of the late Henry Benjamin Seguin and Mary Vina (Beams) Seguin. He was the youngest of seven children, and his siblings were Paul, Corinne, Robert, Irene, Jack, and Harriet; all of whom were born in Ogdensburg.
James graduated from high school in Lisbon, NY in 1954 and married Carole (Trombley) Seguin on October 20, 1956 at the First Congregational Church of Ogdensburg. During his career, he worked construction on several of the Raquette River and St. Lawrence River bridges; he was a Production Supervisor at Diamond International in Ogdensburg, NY; a Production Manager at American Cyanamid Pharmaceuticals in Bridgewater, NJ; and he retired as a Production Manager at Merck in Rahway, NJ. James also served two years in the U.S. Army Reserve, being honorably discharged as a PFC in August 1962.
James was a past member of the First Congregational Church in Ogdensburg and past President of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge. He loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. James and Carole helped countless people during their lives, including serving as foster parents for 25 children over a 17-year period.
James wished to be cremated and entombed with his wife, Carole. In order to allow as many friends and relatives as possible to attend, the family will delay the memorial service until James’ birthday on April 10, 2018. The memorial service will be held at the Foxwood Memorial Park in Ogdensburg, NY at a time to be announced.
