Former Watertown residents charged with sodomy

WATERTOWN — State Police have arrested Daniel Kemp, 49, and Shanynn L. Kemp, 50, formerly of Watertown, NY following a joint investigation with the Fort Bragg Criminal Investigation Command. Daniel Kemp was charged with four counts of sodomy in the first degree, a class “B” felony. Shanynn L. Kemp was charged with three counts of Sodomy in the first degree of a victim under the age of 11 years old.The arrests are the result of an investigation into a victim disclosing the abuse to the New York State Police and the Fort Bragg Investigation Command.The Kemps were foster parents in Jefferson County between February 1998 and December 2000.State Police are asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Watertown at 315-782-3691 or State Police Headquarters at 315-366-6000. State police were assisted in this investigation by several agencies including Ft. Bragg Criminal Investigation Command, Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, and Harnett County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina.
