12 News meets local political group, the Raging Grannies

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — As election season continues, there’s one group that is spicing up local politics, the Raging Grannies.

The group is a part of Citizen Action of New York’s Southern Tier Chapter and travels across the state to different political events.

The team of women share their opinions through song, singing about everything from healthcare, to taxes and the election.

The ladies work to bring light to tough issues with humor.

“The only thing I can say is the humor is a very important part of my life, I love to laugh, I think it resonates , it resonates with people,” said Granny Amy Fleming.

Many of the groups songs were written by former member Patricia Donahue, who passed away on September 23.

“Pat brought humor and joy into what is really depressing work,” said Fleming.

“We have a lot to say, we have experience and knowledge and we want to share that and try to help people to be wise,” said Granny Alexa Hader.

While they’re driving force may no longer be with them, the grannies have no plans of slowing down any time soon.

Raging Grannies is an international organization with gaggles of women all over the world, for more information, click here.
