PARKLAND, Fla. (AP) — Students and teachers from the Florida school where 17 died in February’s high school massacre have written a raw, poignant book about living through the tragedy.

“Parkland Speaks: Survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas Share Their Stories” details what it was like to live through the six-minute shooting spree and its aftermath as the Fort Lauderdale suburb mourning in a worldwide spotlight.

Forty-three students and teachers contributed to the 192-page paperback of essays, poems, photos and art that was published Tuesday by Crown Books.

Journalism teacher Sarah Lerner edited the book and contributed two essays. She says the book has helped her and the students heal. She said they went through the tragedy together and now are getting through the sadness together.
