Parkland shooting one year anniversary

PARKLAND, FL (CBS) — One year ago Thursday, Feb. 14, 2018, 17 people were killed and 17 others injured in a mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.

Suspected gunman and former student Nikolas Cruz was later taken into custody following the school shooting.

A little more than a month later, the national movement, “March For Our Lives” was created by the students who survived the shooting. The movement looked to create change and bring an end to gun violence around the country.

26 states enacted more than 60 new gun control laws in 2018, according to the Gifford Law Center.
