Community Career Day at Calvin Coolidge Elementary School

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — Calvin Coolidge Elementary School in Binghamton held a community career day Thursday afternoon.

Multiple professionals from many different careers spoke to fourth and fifth grade students about their day-to-day life in their career.

Professionals ranged from astronomers, to K-9 officers and even 12 News reporter Julia Gorman. She spoke to students about her life as a reporter.

The idea for the career fair came from fourth grade teacher AnneMarie Bogart, she thought it was a good idea to engage students.

“I thought it would be a good idea for kids to know whats available in the community so they can pan out their future. Like what they are interested in, what paths do they want to take in their lifetime, just to get them interested and have a good time while at school.” said Bogart.

This was the first time Calvin Coolidge held a career day like this, and they hope to do more in the future.
