A graveside service for former long- time Brownville residents, Wilber and Ivy Washer will be held at 11:00am Friday, June 21st at the North Watertown Cemetery on Bradley Street.

Wilber passed away August 24, 2007 at the age of 86 in Houston, TX. He was a Corporal in the US Army during World War II and was stationed in Leigh, England. He will be interred with military honors. Wilber worked more than 40 years for the New York Air Brake, retiring in 1983. He was also a long-time member of the Brownville Fire Department and the Allen-Giles American Legion Post 588.

Ivy passed away January 10, 2019 at the age of 93 in Fort Myers, FL. She worked for the General Brown School District for over 20 years, retiring in 1983. She was also a member of the Brownville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and served on the board for the Brownville Senior Apartments.

The couple were married December 14, 1946, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Watertown and are survived by their sons James (Carole) Washer of The Villages, FL and David (Laurie) Washer of Fort Myers Beach, FL; daughter Barbara (Arthur) Holmes of Sugarland, TX; grandchildren Andrew, Scott, Heather, Joanne, and Christopher; and six great-grandchildren. They were preceded in death by their daughter, Joan Elizabeth, who passed away shortly after birth March 3, 1961.

The family invites friends to join them at the graveside service followed by a luncheon at the Watertown Ramada immediately after the service.
