Waddington: Harold White of Waddington died at home Monday, June 10, 2019 at the age of 97, after a short illness. He was the son of Verner and Edith White of Morristown.
Mr. White was a lieutenant in the Army Air Force from 1942 through 1945, serving as a B-17 co-pilot and pilot. He completed his tour of 35 missions with the 390th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, from bases in England, Italy, and the former Soviet Union. His decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.
Harold White attended ATI (now SUNY-Canton) and graduated from Clarkson University in 1948. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady and IBM in Poughkeepsie. After retirement, he moved to Waddington in 1989.
He was married for 69 years to Flora Ann White, who died last year. They are survived by children Anne White and her husband Robert Wilhelm of Boston and Schroon Lake, and David White of Waddington. They are also survived by grandchildren Tom Wilhelm, Douglas and Amanda Dachille-White, Jeffrey White, and Amy White.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday July 6 at 12:00 PM at Old Brookside Cemetery, Waddington. Following the prayer services, friends and family will be received at the 7 Maple Street home.
At the family’s request flowers are kindly declined, and memorial contributions may be made in Harold White’s name to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Box 452, Waddington, NY.
