Johnson City middle schooler Molly Jablonowski’s art work was featured in LUMA last year, debuting a carousel theme.

This year, she’s being featured again.

LUMA co-founder and producer Tice Lerner says she’s the youngest of the 26 artists chosen from the area to be showcased this year on the CVS building.

He says, “she did one of our favorite pieces last year so to have her back again to do another amazing piece we’re excited.”

This year, her piece features a haunted house, crafted from a template of the building it will be projected on.

Jablonowski says she’s using what she learned from last year’s festival to light up Binghamton once again.

“I decided to use kind of the same selection of colors that I did for the carousel because they said that the carousel was perfect, it projected perfectly and it looks like this one’s going to project perfectly as well,” she said.

Jablonowski’s participation is a feat Lerner hopes goes far beyond the building’s facade.

“To have someone so talented at such a young age having this opportunity and getting to see her work at such a large scale in front of so many people I hope that that just continues to foster her creativity,” said Lerner.

While Jablonowski hopes to join the festival again next year, when it comes to her experience so far, she says, “it’s like one of the best things to happen in my life.”

You can catch the middle schooler’s work displayed on the CVS building in downtown Binghamton on both Friday and Saturday night.
