JOHNSON CITY (WBNG) — Johnson City’s annual holiday parade lit up our community on Thursday for the 35th year.

Hundreds lined Main Street for a night of family fun and enjoying the holiday spirit.

Cars, trucks, and wagons were decorated with lights and decorations of all kinds from many community organizations, including us here at WBNG!

Kids eagerly waited for candy and to see some favorite faces- from local law enforcement, to the Grinch, and of course, Santa Claus.

“We come every year,” says Michaela Wise of Binghamton. “And we have family that is on the police department and the fire department in Johnson City. So we come and see them and support them, and the kids like to wave to everybody, and it’s just a great way to start out the Christmas season.”

This night is especially meaningful to some residents. With the Johnson City Field Days being cancelled earlier this year, some were worried where the funding for the parade would come from, as the Field Days partially fundraised for the parade.

Event organizers said earlier this year sponsorship was to come from a different and unspecified source.
