Lauren Ajax Vigil

(WBNG) — Students in the Vestal School District held a vigil for the teenage girl killed in a domestic shooting on July 4.

The students came out to remember the life of fellow peer Lauren Ajax, who was killed when her stepfather shot her in the head.

Lauren was in 11th grade and is described as being “bright and energetic” by those who knew her.

The school’s counseling department is offering support to any student affected by her passing.

These sessions will be held privately.

Vestal Police tell 12 News Lauren’s mother, who was also shot, remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.

Her step-father, who shot himself, is on life support. He will face charges if he survives his injuries, police say.
