LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania funeral director whose license was suspended amid allegations of mishandling bodies and lying on death certificates is now facing criminal charges. Andrew Scheid was charged Thursday with four felony counts of tampering with public records and four misdemeanor counts of abuse of a corpse. The state Attorney General’s office also announced it has filed a civil lawsuit aimed at permanently closing Scheid’s funeral homes and obtaining restitution for customers. It wasn’t known Thursday if the 49-year-old Scheid has retained an attorney. He operated funeral homes in Lancaster and in Manor Township, outside Millersville.
