Capital Region libraries benefit from state grants for construction

Capital Region libraries will benefit from $34 million in state aid awarded by the state Education Department to 232 public libraries to support construction and renovation projects, state education officials announced Saturday.

Local libraries have been awarded $2,055,661, which can be used to construct and expand buildings, update electrical wiring and technology, improve broadband infrastructure, meet energy efficiency standards, improve accessibility to users with disabilities and create community meeting spaces.
